WELCOME KHS CLASS OF 1988

It's just a few weeks from officially being summer, summer, summertime -- ooohhh summertime.  I so miss the days of mudpies, playing with my Barbie dolls on the porch when it rained outside, my big wheel, the swingset at Holloway, walking to the corner store for a brown paper bag of cookies... Being a teenager in Kinston meant the skating rink and the 99 cent movie theater, the evening softball games at Emma Webb, and riding my bike up the hill to watch the high school guys play basketball at Rochelle.  Those were some good times, and all the while, we couldn't wait to be 16, 18, 21, 25.

Times have changed so much!  Kinston wasn't such a bad place to be.  I love taking my son outside, yes barefoot, to run around in my parents yard!  Or walking him around the cul-de-sac in his stroller (secretly trying to get him to fall asleep - it worked when he was younger).  He's so easy to please... until it's time to go into the house! You don't realize how good life is when you're a kid.

I know that our economy has changed each of our lives and this a perfect time to think about how simple life was and figure out how to get back to a place where it took a lot less to make us happy. Sometimes just reminiscing will do it. Remember summertime when you were a kid?
